rAUSTRALIAN it N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION ABSENTEES UPSET CALCULATIONS. LONDON December 18. The “Tunes” editorially points oui that absentees votes in the elections imperil the chances of many confident candidates. A large soldiers’ vote is likely to be recorded. THE IRISH VOTING. SINN FEIN SWEEPS POLLS. LONDON December 17. The “Times’s’' Dublin correspondent states that enormous Sinn Fern polling is reported from all districts in Ireland. This suggests that the Irish Nationalist Party will be left with only eight or ten seats in the House of Commons. The Times’s’’ correspondent says that Sinn Fein voters were imported to Waterford which compelled the police u> eharge with bayonets and several in the crowd were wounded. Mr 0 ; Dowd Nationalist candidate at Bally - mote was stoned and badly injured.
