Everybody but the rich arc existing on dry bread, Swedish frozen souverkraufc and sugar beets. The poor people are trying to exist on a pound of potatoes pcV week, 11 pounds of bread. Acorn coffee replaces real, and dried oak leaves are substituted for tobacco, dried chick ory and strawberry leaves are used as a substitute for tea. Flour is sold by profiteers at a cost of three dollars per pound. Government allows unemployed workmen one dollar 20 cents daily. This is not- sufficient to buy bread )
