HOKITIKA BOWLING CLUB.
OPENING DAY,—SATURDAY. The Hokitika Bowling Club will open the season on Saturday afternoon next when the Club will be pleased to welcome all visitors. There will be- rink play for both ladies and gentlemen and all wishing to take part in the play are requested to be in attendance on the green by 2.30. p.m., when sides will be selected, the annual match for the day being that of President versus Vice-President. Tlio formal opening ceremony will take place at 2.45. p.m., and will lie " short one, after which the play will commence. In order to make he opening a criterion of the season, a full attendance of members and intending members, ladies and gentlemen is desired. A cordial invitation is extended the public to visit the ground and watch tho play. Afternoon tea will he supplied the wives of the President and Vice President (Mrs Benjamin and Mrs Blank) being tho hostesses for the afternoon. During the afternoon the Singles Champion for last year will he presented with the Duncan Cup to hold for the season. Tlie green will be found to play very well and given a fine summer the season should prove a very enjoyable one. During each evening there will be practice and during the Christmas and New Year Holidays there will be the play every afternoon. In connection with the formation of a Ladies branch of the Club all intending membors are requested to band in their names by Saturday afternoon, when arrangements will be made for a sub-committee of ladies to arrange for their play on the lines laid down in a previous issue. '
