A report from Berlin asserts the Allies refused to despatch food-stuffs to Germany, until the Soldiers’ and Work-* men’s Councils were disbanded. It is alleged that the Allies reserved the right- to march into Germany if the circumstances demanded it. ANXIOUS GERMANS AMSTERDAM, Dec. 13. Tho German press are anxiously watching the growing Allied insistence on indemnities. The “Frankfurter Zei-t-ung” warns the Allies to be sober enough to realise that it never pays to slave a great people. Slave labour is , notoriously unproductive. The paper apepals particularly to Americans, pointing out that Germany is no - longer a dangerous rival in the world’s markets .The exaction of in indemnity means a great danger of losing Germany as a business phere. It is reported from Treves that -he Armistice has been extended until :’v<j o’clock on the morning of the 17th and will he renewable thereafter until the conclusion of a preliminary peace, subject to the Entente’s consent. In view of the recent passage of German troops and material through Limburg, in Holland, Belgium is iequesting Holland to grant faciliti*s for tho forwarding of war material ty the river Scheldt to Antwerp. BELGIUM AND LIMBURG. THE HAGUE December Id. Tho Dutch Second Chamber debated at length tlfo alleged Belgian designs on Dutch Limburg. Tho Premier said that the Government of Holland was convinced both of the Limburgers’ patriotism and of the determination of the’ Dutch people u> maintain the territorial integrity of their country. -
