Last evening Patrick O’Connor, a farmer of Geraldine, was killed by a motor ear which run over a bank about seven miles from Methven. The other occupant, Patrick Kellelier, was unconscious for two hours. obituary. WELLINGTON, December .. On Friday evening a southerly breeze which during the day had caused the suspension of tho unloading of the Do'--jset, dropped, and lightering recommenced and continued all night. About 900 tons of cargo had been put out up to last night. If all goes well another attempt wil be made at midnight to-night to tow the Dorset off, on the top of high water. Th© vessel used her own engines yesternoon in an endeavour to get free of the sand, but was unsuccessful. DORSET STILL UNFLOATED. WELLINGTON December 15. Tliereis no change in the position of the Dorset. Work had to be ’topped on account of the bad weather on Sat urday, but was resumed to-day. Another attempt may he made tonight to refloat the vessel. REFLOATED. WELINGTON, This Day. The Dorset was roflo'ated early this morning, and berthed at King’s wharf. COURT.!IARTIAL SENTENCES. DUNEDIN, Dec 13. Sentences on the military reservists who were arrested.rccently at Elfin Bay wore promulgated to-day as follows: Private William Douglas Pearston and Private William Wallace Yeoman, for being absent from Medical Board without leave, were each sentenced to two years’ imprisonment in H.M. prison, with hard labour. Private Laurence Barton for failing to concentrate at Wanganui, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment in H.M. prison with hard labour. PEUNKET SHIELD MATCH. WELLINGTON December 15. Following on the resolution passed by the New Zealand Cricket Council recommending the resumption of the Plunkct shield matches, Wellington has challenged the holders (Canterbury). The match will probably bo played on ’Xmas Day and tho following days. MISSING LAW CLERK. FOUND ON WEST COAST. CHRISTCHURCH, December 14. Mr J. F.
