MESSAGE FROM GENERAL

WELLINGTON, December 2.
The Minister of Defence has received the following cable message from Genoral Godley; On behalf of all New Zealanders avlio are now seiwing, and xvlio liaA’c served in this great struggle for our King and Empire and the freedom of the Avorltl, I thank you sincerely for your stirring message which has boon circulated amongst all ranks. We thank God for giving us and our Allies so great and complete a A’ictory and Ave tlmnk the people of Ncav Zealand for their appreciation of our efforts and for their continuous support and sympathy. We arc proud to have fought Avith the great and gallant armies of France and Great Britain, to Avhom the greatest share of victory is due. Our first thoughts will ever be to those Comrades avlio have consecrated the soil of France, Belgium, Gallipoli, aid Palestine, and to their relatives, who avc trust will he consoled by the fact that tho lives of these heroes have not been given in vain.
