AUCKLAND, Dec. 3. The Education Board passed the following resolution:—“That in view of the widespread dissatisfaction with the re-grading of certain grades of teachers by the Assistant. Director, the Board asks the Minister to set up a Commission to enquire into the whole matter of grading with a view to arriving it a satisfactory Dominion grading list ■ that will command confidence of both I ■packers and boards.’’ A PROTEST. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A strong protest is being made by tho North Canterbury Repatriation League against the hurried passing of the Repatriation Bill. It suggested skeleton lines for the bill and approved of the whole scheme being under civilian control, free of military influence.

A iir© broke out this morning in Maddrin Brothers flock and rope factory. The brigade soon arrived and the outbreak was suppressed. A number of machines were seriously damaged and some material destroyed, but the water caused the chief damage. The building was not. affected by the fire. Insured for £3765, but no estimate of damage is yet made.
