AUCKLAND’S PROTEST. AUCKLAND, This Day
The Harbour Board has approved of a telegram sent by the Chairman to the Riemier, protesting against the outrageous and insulting telegram sent by Hon. G. W. Russell to the Mayor of Auckland, adding, “Until is it satisfactorily proved that the Makura is a clean ship, she will not be berthed at Auckland Wharf.” The telegram concludes “Feel sure you will insist on the withdrawal of the gross reflection on the Mayor and Council.” IN OTAGO. DUNEDIN, This Day. The notifications for Otago and Southland are 34. Hospital cases in Dunedin are 224‘. These figures.show a steady abatement. The District Health Officer is of opinion that the sudden removal of restrictions by the Minister was too early, seeing that Otago had on light the epidemic a fortnight after the north, but the Minister's directions have been obeyed.
