Wells, M.C.C., visited the break on the Kauieri Lake road, with a view to arranging for the shifting of the power line to permit of tlie deviation of the road further into the sideling. Mr F. B. Powell was present, and the work in question was arranged satisfactorily. The break in the road is an ugly oiie, atid the road will take some securing at tlie point in question, ns the river makes a dear rim for the roadway. It is hoped to augment the protection work with some large limbs and trees on the sideling so as to break the force of the rushing waters. Tlie Borough pipe line which follows the route of 'the road at this point is also far from secure, and the service supply is liable to bo interrupted, till more permanent, work can be put in.
