PRICES EASIER

(By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as fol* lows regarding the above sales on Wed nesday. Fat Cattle. —There was a fairly large yarding, but the market was easier all round than last sale. The quality was indifferent. Best steers brought £2B lOs; prime £l9 to £26 10s; lighter and unfinished £l4 to £l7 10s; hcifeis £ll 10s to £l6 10s; cows to £l7; light and unfinished £9 10s to £ll 10s; medium weights £ll to £l4. Store Cattle.—There was small market. and the attendance and demand was very slack. There were no quotable lines except one lot of good threeyear old steers at £11; dry cows £7 10s to £9 10s; best yearlings £7. Feed prospects are not too good. Fat sheep.—There was a fairly laige yarding, too many for butchers and the market opened considerably easier than last sale and eased more as it progressed. Prices were about equal to the sale before last. Best woolly wethers to 51s 6d, shorn to 40s 3d; medium to 46s ; shorn 35s 6d ; lighter to 4~s; shorn 37s 6d. Ewes were in the same proportion. Store sheep.—A small entry and most irregular in prices. Best woolly ewes from 38s to 40s 3d; best woolly ewe hoggets from 44s to 35s 6d ; medium sorts wore little sought after. There was a small attendance ot buyers* owing chiefly to peace celebrations.
