They massacred 163 civilians on the orders of General Von Ostcawski When looting was finished the, Bavarians drove the inhabitants into cellars and threw incendiary bombs. The whole of ono Courtrai street was burned, and 34 civilians were encincruted, while 129 others were killed by shells fired after the Germans left the town.
