WAIHO NOTES
(From a Correspondent.) The residents of the M’ailio District assembled in their new Hall to welcome home Private J. Gibbs, who lias returned invalided. In spite of the inclement weather, people turned up for many miles around to greet their friend John Gibb, and rejoice to see him back again. Mr G. Soarle. chairman of the entertainment committee, handled the ceremony in his usual pleasant way. The National Anthem was sung and Air W. Friend propsed the Toast “The King.” Mr. John Donovan, iir a very appreciative speech welcomed the returned soldier home and asked Aliss K. Grgen to present him with a gold medal, the gift of the residents. After the singing ‘He is a Jolly Fellow,’ and Private Gibb’s speech of thanks, dancing was commenced and lasted till morning. Among the guests we had the pleasure of entertaining were returned Private J. Alulvaney, and oil Ins last leave, Private AY. Adamson. Air. Al. Patrick spoke to thank the ladies, and many ladies and gentlemen brightened the evening with song. Airs Donovan supplied the music in her usual excellent wav.
