North of Sissonne we have now reach- • ed a line passing the Fronduront Sugar Factory and west of Autrsncourt and then through Curieux, Gouidelancour and Machecourt-. Our advanced guards, supported by artillery, are progressing between Sissoitne and Serrc rivers. , We have pentrated all parts of the Handing positions where the enemy was still holding out forcing him to withdraw. Our advance is a general one between the east of St- Quentin Ie Petit and the outskirts of Herpy. A FRENCH PUSH. (Received this day at 10.1-3 a.m.) ’ I LONDON, Nov. 6. A French communique says on the whole French front from Sambre canal to Argonnc, the German retreat continued in the daytime and attained at certain places a depth of ten kilos. The First Army is gathering the fruits of the severe battle yesterday, for the crossing of the canal completely defeated six German divisions. We captured 4,000 prisoners and sixty guns. We captured .Guise in the first hour. The advance continued unrestingly till we reached, at the end of the day, Barzy, Esqueheries, La Vaqueresse, Crupilly, Malzy, Reomery, Sains Richaumont and Housset, liberating numerous civilians. Further to the right we hold i,a Neuville, Marie, Bosmont, Enouleau, Bucy, Les Pierrepont, and Dizlegros. There wns heavy fighting north-west of Chateau Porcien, which also caused a general retreat of the Germans. Our lino passes north of Waleppe, Hannogne, west of Chaudin and St. Fergeux, and captured Herpy, Conde-les-Herpy and Chateau Porcien. We crossed the Aisne at Nanteuil and in Argonne by a brilliant surprise, and crossed Ardennes canal and the Aisne at Wouvergny and Sanvillo.
