The British troops during the pursuit have discovered that Germans machine gunners adopted the trick ot donning Belgian workmen’s elothes } and thus putting the British on the wrong scent. Other Gormans were found hiding at Lille in civilian dress. They pleaded that they feared the inhabitants’ vengeance. PROGRESS IN FLANDERS. LONDON,, Nov. 5. A British Flanders report states the Germans are retreating, and the Allies have begun to seize Ghent-. The report adds that- among captured documents, is an order issued bv General von Larische on October 19th, wherein ho declared the Lys-Hermnnn-Stellung line must bo held at all costs. NEAR VER.VINS. (Received This Day at 10.30. a.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 6. The German retreat along the FranooBrifijsh front is accelerating. The French are near Vervins.
