HOKITIKA BOWLING CLUB.

A meeting of the sub-committee appointed to strange for the inclusion of lady members of the Club was held in the pavilion last cvning when it was resolved—That the fee for the season be fixed at lOs Orl for n member’s wife or household, other ladies £1 Is ; that a portion of the green be allotted to the ladies from time to time, of which they are to have exclusive control, except when required for matches; that combined play be not allowed on the portion of the green reserved for men only, except at times to be specially fixed by the General Committee. It was resolved that applications for membership he invited forthwith, and that names be handed in before Saturday* 16th inst to Mrs Benjamin, when arrangements for the season will he definitely arranged. It was decided to suggest to the Ground Committee that if possible the opening day he fixed for Saturday Nov. 30th, and that on that occasion combined play be arranged. The question of suitable accommodation for lady members was discussed and a suggestion for the enclosure of portion of the pavilion for their use was approved and this will shortly he carried into effect. It was resolved that when nominations are to hand to call the ladies’ together to form a sub-committee to carry out necessary details in connection with the season’s play.

The green has been filling out Aery rapidly during the past week, the new grass coining on well. The top-dress-ing already carried out is showing to fine advantage, and the green generally is looking well. . The top-dressing will ho completed on Saturday afternoon nnd then a week’s preparation, given fine weather, should see the green ready for play. The Club desires to thank Mr Perham, (Malfroy and C 0.,) for a kind offer for a supply of timber required for the green.
