After speeches of congratulations and the singing of the National Anthem, tho House adjourned to the following day. There were big gatherings and demonstrations in the streets to the i sounds of the many bells! There were similar demonstrations throughout- the. Commonwealth. AN EARTHQUAKE. ADELAIDE, This Day. A strong earth tremor was felt in the city and various parts of the country at 10 o’clock yesterday morning. Houses rocked and articles were displaced but no damage was done. WHEAT EXPORT. (Received This Dav at- noon.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The export of surplus wheat will shortly be resumed. A fleet- of specinllv released steamers is now on route to Australia to ship forty-five thousand tons of grain.
