A French communique at 5.20 p.m. says on the Aisne front wo again advanced at night time and took the villages of Lucroit-au-Bois and Nivry. The enemy’s resistance has appreciably increased especially in the Forest of Argonne. The material abandoned by the •retreating forces include fourteen guns, five of the largest calibre. Since the beginning of the operation we have prisonered over two thousand. FRENCH OPERATIONS. LONDON, November 4. A French communique states: The severe battle in the Argonne has resulted in the complete success of the Fourth French and American Armies. The enemy first desperately defended the Aisne crossings. Then he clung tenaciously to tho wooded heights, but his resistance lias collapsed before the rush of our troops who have.occupied Voncq and Choene Woods. Thus the liberating of the Argonne has been completed. Our prisoners and booty arc yet uncounted.
