JAPANESE VIEWS.

ON AMERICA'S EXPANSION. [PF.It PRKSS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT.] j (Received this day at 9.25 a.m.) | TOKIO, Nov. 3. I The spectacle of American’s democratic achievements in the transformation in eighteen months, of a pacifist nation into an efficient war Power is importantly* influencing Japan. Together with the downfall of German militarism it will affect the national policy leading to the extension of political liberties, but the idea of a League of Nations has received no support. “Tbe Kohumin ” says the peace now in sight does not guarantee a permanent peace of the world. America may be in the position to dictate a peace of righteousness, but Japan must ever be on her guard, and prepared for war, or peace. “ Tbe Asalii,’’ marvelling at tbe achievements of America’s armies, discusses the abolition of the idol of militarists’ conscription system, whilst another journal regards the expansion of the American Navy as paradoxical, and asks why America aims at becoming the greatest naval Power in tho world if she is an earnest seeker after ideals.
