POLLARD’S PICTURES. “ The Whims of Society ” and the official film of “ The King’s Visit to the Grand Fleet,” conjointly make ■ a very powerful programme to be screened by Pollards at the Princess , Theatre to-night. The charming actress Ethel Clayton, is said to be at her best as the heroine in this outspoken drama that presents three grades of life, the wealthy man, the fashionable woman who hangs on the fringe of the wealthy also, and last but not least a poor hard-working factor}’ gill. "The King’s Visit to the Grand Fleet,” shown by permission of the New Zealand Government, is of unusual interest. It is an official picture taken of the only inspection which, the King has made of the fleet on its war footing. As a spectacle it is most impressive and alter viewing the long line of grim sea monsters it is easy to lealise the might of Britain on the seas. Many naval heroes are shown, among them being Admiral Beatty anu Admiral Sturdee, the Falkland fight victor. MCLEAN’S PICTURES. OPERA HOUSE TUESDAY. The star feature for 'Tuesday evening is “More Truth than Poetry” in which Mine. Petrova plays Elaine Esmond, the novelist, and also Vera Maitland, the principal character in her own novel. In the novel Vera marries Ashton Blair, an unsuccessful lawyer. She secures a big ease for him when her friend, draco Danbv, fells her that her husband lias killed a mail, who had incurred his jealous wrath. Blair succeeds in securing his acquittal. Success Blair’s head, and he neglects, his wife, mrns Blair’s head and lie neglects his wife, finding companionship in another woman. The heart-broken wife goes away to seek forgetfulness, only to encounter the culprits. Here highly dramaticevents give a tlirillling climax to til's story within a story and Elain’s own love affair reaches a happy consummation. Chapters of the serial “The Great Secret” unavoidably held over on Friday evening, will also be screened.
