I LONDON, Nov. 1. s An American communique states north of Verdun, we ejected the enemy from the vilage of Brieurtes, west of the Meuse. Artilerying. is of the heaviest on the whole front. AMERICAN OPERATIONS. NEW YORK, Nov. 2. General Pershing reports: We have captured a dozen villages, and three thousand prisoners. LONDON, Nov. 2. • An American official report states: We continued our- attack on the west hank of the Meuse, in conjunction with the French. Infantry, artillery, aeroplanes and tanks co-operated. We overcame a-nd disorganised the enemy’s resistance, and broke up counterattacks. We are already beyond a line from St. Georges to Landres, Imc-cour-t, Lauderville, Channery, Bnyonville, ’ Renionville, Aiiaevanne-le-Grand. A total of 3602 prisoners has been counted. NEW YORK, Nov. 2. The “Times’’ says the Americans have broken through the German lines north of Verdun. Another report- says the Germans facing the Americans in Verdun region are retreating beyond the Etvayo positions. The retreat in places is so rapid that the Americans are unable to maintain contact with the enemy. y BELGIAN REPORT. LONDON, Nov. 1. A Belgian communique states as the result of local operations, wo almost everywhere established ourselves on the western bank of. the Lys, and Derivation Canal. The hamlet «f Daaloon has been captured. FL ANDERS! OPERATIONS. LONDON, Nor. 2. A British-Belgiahi official message ( states: —The operations of the Fland- , ers’ armies have continued successfully. British on the sont-li hank drove the enemy on the Scheldt to Mclden, capturing the strong villages of Anseghem, Treaghem, Castavz and Elocgem. " The Franco-Americans wore in the centre and carried fiercely defended heights between, the Lys and Scheldt rivers. They advanced to the Scheldt between Holden and Eecko on a frontof 16, to a depth of 8 to 16 kilometres, capturing in two days’ fighting 19 villages, notably Deynze, Nazareth and Audenarde. The Belgians, in the north, carried out minor operations on the Derivation canal, assisted by French tanks. LONDON. N«v. 3. The Germans are fighting strongly in Flanders and Guise sectors, where the Belgians at- the Derivation canal, and the French near Guise, maderiittle progross. ALLIES NEAR- GHENT. NEW YORK, Nov. 3.
