The plain and fancy dress ball held in the Drill Shod on Tuesday night in aid, of the Copper Trail was fairly well attended. Some of the costumes were well got up and the wearers with their antics caused some amusement. Miss Mavis Rutland as Charlie Chaplin secured the prize for tho Gent’s costume and Miss Nancekivell as a Maori Veteran ,t-he Laldies’ prize. Messtrs Houston and Bruce acted as scrutineers for the judging of the costumes. The music which was given free was kindly supplied by the Hokitika Municipal Band, Mesdamcs Holling, Houston, and Preston, Misses Breeze, Stopforth, Halliday, Hcenan, Foster, and Mr L. Ross. Mr 11. Thompson had charge of the floor. The supper was in the capable hands of Mesdamcs Parkinson, Hall, Morgan, Heenan, Brockleburst and Wood. The footballers had the floor in good order again for the Juveniles last evening and the children seemed to enjoy their outing very much. Master Coulson secured tho prize for the heat impersonator of Charlie Chaplin and Little Miss Cameron as a Red Cross nurse, the prize for the most original costume. Messrs Houston and Macfarlane kindly acted as Scrutineers. The music as on the previous evening was again given free and was supplied bv Miss Williams assisted by Mrs Houston, Misses Heenan and Halliday. Messrs Williams and Heenan had charge of the floor.
