OUT ON STRIKE. ( pKR PHKHS \SSOrt ATION .—fiOPVRK»HT I GREYMOUTH. This Day. The miners at the Paparoa mine are on strike over a- certain “place being included in “cavil” ground, and had m ventilation. The management- insisted that the Inspector of Mines had made two tests and found 750 cubic feet of air per minute in the first visit. In the second test, the brattice was broken by a shot fired and even then ,350 cubit/ 1 Scot was shown. The Miners Act provides for only 300 cubic loot. The Inspector declared the spot was well ventilated. The men still refused to return. O’Rourke, President of the Miners Federation visited Roa and asked the men to return, but they refused. Mr Reed, Chief Inspector of Mines is making an inspection of the locality on Saturday. The mine remains idle in the meantime.
