TUESDAY, OCT. 22.
The Hoard met at 7.30 p.m. Present: .Messrs J. J. Breeze, (Chairman), J, Cameron, C. H. Blank, G. Davidson, F. Roberts, H. Norman, L. Morel, H. Williams. VOTE OF SYMPATHY. The Chairman referred to the recent death of Mrs Roberts, mother of their follow member. Mr. F. Roberts, anc * moved that the Board record its deep sympathy and condolence with . the bereaved. Seconded bv Mr. Williams and carried in silence. The minutes of last meeting were taken as .read and confirmed and the outward correspondence was approved. OTIRA HOSPITAL. Mr Robertson representing the Otira Hospital Committee waited on the Hoard to ventilate grievances in connection with Otira Hospital and its management, especiallly in connection with the subscriptions from the miners, the treatment of patients and payment oi secretary’s salary. After a lengthy discussion. Mr. Robertson withdrew and further discussion was adjourned till next meeting. From Palmerston North, Ashburton, Wellington and Canterbury hoards m reference to honorary surgeons on the staffs—Received. * From Otira Committee enclosing £lO Is od.—Received. From Otira Committee asking Board to receive deputation .from Committee at next mooting.—Received. From A Wright wardsnuin, resigning position, having been called up for service —Received and accepted. From Sister Johnston resigning position as nurse—Received and accepted. It, was resolved to intimate that the Board considered she should refund at least part of the travelling expenses paid. . „ From M. Murphy, housemaid. Lvumara, applying for an increase of sal-ary.--Received. It was resolved to increase the salary to £52 per year. From Kumara Master, reporting on hospital for month.—Received as satisfactory. REPORTS,. From Westland Hospital Committee, reporting matters in connection with institution. —Received and adopted. Accounts amounting to £571 14s Bd, were passed for payment. The Treasurer reported receipts £BIB 14s 9d ; payments £BOI 11s 0d; overdraft £441 4s Bd Received. From Surgeon Superintendent Westland Hospital reporting patients on the 31st August 30; admitted during September, 12 males and 8 females. Total treated during month 33 males, 17 females—so. Discharged cured (> males, 2 females, relieved 4 males, 3 females, died 2 males. 1 female; total discharged 18. In hospital on 30th Sept. 32. In hospital for two months 13 males. 5 females —18.—Received The Board rose at 0.30 p.m.
