They reached ■ Sivy and Magnonta Farm at Romagnc . The Germans fought gallantly to hold back tlie Americans, bringing up now .Guards Divisions. The Germans flooded the woods and ravines with mustaid and lethal gases. Chatillon Woods, covering a high lull south of Romagnes was stubbornly defended. The Americans gained the summit at evening, after being repeatedly thrown back. A thousand prisoners were sent, to the rear. WASHINGTON, October 16. The Americans west of the. Mouse ai’c slowly cutting through Kreimbild Line, after a savage battle. The French and Italians are eo-> operating. An American official report states we are attacking on both, .sides of the Meuse. We are meeting with stubborn resistance. East of the Meuse we have advanced. The Americans have captured Grand Fro. The Americans took Jiivin and went beyond the enemy second line .
