USE OF TANKS. LONDON, Oct. 16Owing to the unsuitability of the swampy ground in tbeir locality the British in Flanders arc not using tanks, but .French tanks are doing great service. The combined attack already threatens the Germans in the. coastal region, between Nieuport and Ostend. They must hurriedly withdraw from a narrow corridor, otherwise the door will be slammed on them. More to the southward our advance towards Courtrai puts the enemy in the Lille neighbourhood into a deep pocket while Douai is almost encireled.
