(Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 16. A French communique says on the Aisne we advanced in the region of Arsonvillc. We skirted the southern bank of the Serre as far as Pouilly stir Serre. which is in our bands. We progressed north-west of AVarchais prisonering four hundred. Further east we captured Laselve and Nizy le Commee, westward of Grandpre. We hold Vouzieres-Gra ndpre road. In this region we prisonered an additional four hundred.

AMERICAN REPORT

LONDON, Uct. 16,

An American communique states we continued attacks on both sides of the Meuse, stubbornly resisted by a reinforced enemy. Eastward of the Meuse, Franeo-Americans gained ground westward. The fighting violently increased. We gained substantially including Hill 299, which thrice changed hands. We broke the Kriemhild-Stellung lines at new points where hand to hand fighting occurred.
