FOOTBALL TROUBLE. WELLINGTON, This Day. The Wellington Rugby Union last night commenced an inquiry ordered by the New Zealand Rugby Union in reference to the alleged playing of amended rules in the Auckland versus Wellington matches on Sept. 7tli. Only four players appeared and after taking evidence it resolved to suspend the following pin vers till they appear,—Valentine, Christopherson, A. Thomas. Aitken. Morris. Arthur Parker, Albert Parker, E. Bernhardt, Marks and B. Thomas. The players not suspended I were Porter, Nicholls. Tilyard and Trov who'attended and Tailored who is away from Wellington. Nicholas, the Captain, stated he was not a party to ■ any arrangement. He had been ap, preached respecting a proposal that | there he no charging of free kicks and ' replied he would leave the matter to j the forwards. Troy said he was not aware of any agreement. Griffiths a i member of tlie Rugbv Union stated that l in his hearing the two captains agreed ito no charging of free kicks. Tilyard ! stated Mr. Griffiths told the Wellingj ton team prior to the game that the j Captains had agreed that free kicks I should not he charged.
