ARATTURA FAT STOCK SALE

The. usual fortnightly fixture at the above Yards was held yesterday. The yarding comprised CO head of prime fat cattle from South Westland, which were yarded in excellent condition, the quality being probably Hie host: seen at Arahura for many years. There was a representative attendance of buyers, and competition was vigorous throughout the Sale. The excellent quality of the cattle added to the keen demand firmed prices up considerably on previous Sales, and beef was fully £3 15s per hundred for the whole Sale. In fact some buyers were left, and are talking of importing cattle from Addington for the next Sales. Messrs .Teffrie s and Co. sold on account of F. G. Williams and Sons, 24 prime bullocks from £32 12s Gd to £2O 7s Gd, 2 light bullocks at £l9. This line of bullocks averaged all over £26 7s 4d, establishing a record for the Yards. For tile same vendor, 10 heifers realised from £l9 2s Gd to £ls. On account of Mr M. Purcell, 12 bullocks from £2B 15s to £2l ss, averaging £24 8s .9d, 8 cows and heifers averaging £2l 7s Gd.

Oil account of Mr J. Ferguson, b'J extra prime wethers from Canterbury at 49s 6d. On account Mr D. Roberts (privately) 10 medium weight bullocks from £ls os to £l4 los.

Messrs M. Houston and Co. report as follows: —Wo held our usual fortnightly sale at the above yards yesterda v ; our yarding consisting of 24 prime bullocks, 6 heifers and cows. There was a good attendance of buyers, competition being very keen throughout. Beef showed no decline on previous sale, a very choice bullock from Mr Dicdrichs’ station topping -the market at £37 10s. We sold on account of Mr H. Diedriclis, 1 bullocks at £37 10s, 1 at £3l 17s 6d, 3 at £2B 10s, 2 at £25, 3 at £2O 12 s 6d, 3 at £25 2s 6d, 2 at £23 10s, 3 at £2l 7s Gd, 2 at £23, ] at £lB 10s, 4 at £25 17s 6d, 1 cow at £l6 17s 6(1, 3 heifers at £l4 15s, 1 small steer at £l4.
