St. Mary’s Club wish to notify their numerous patrons that- their euchre lonriiament and (lance will be held on next Thursday evening. At the Arabura Saleyards yesterday for the Soldiers’ Xmas gift fund, Mr. W. J. Jeffries sold a very handsome Indian silk shawl, the gift of Mrs R. W Wade, through Mrs Cl. J.Roberts, to the fund in question. The shawl was a valuable one, and it was a kindly thought on Mrs "Wade’s part to make the gift. The article realised £8 7s 6d, the following being the contributors: Messrs J. Steer, (ultimate purchaser) £2 15s, W. Burrowes, F. Williams, R. Groom, My. Williams, M. Norman, ,T Jarman. J. Stewart, J. Fitzgerald, M. Purcell. W. Diedrielis, F. Antfrewes each 10s; F Sellers 2s Gd. The contributors from the donors are nnidh appreciated, the amount being a very acceptable sum towards file fund in question.
The send-off to the 47th Reinforcements take place at the Town Hall tomorrow night at- 8 o’clock. All men leaving on Thursday, and C.l. men leaving on the following Monday, are invited to be present, together with their relatives and friends. Returned men are also invited. The entertainment will lie supplied by the winners of the recent Competitions, and the prizes in connection with that event will he distributed. Subsequent to the gathering the recruits. returned men, ancl performers will be entertained at the,Overseas Club. A large attendance of the public is invited to this gathering to mark the public interest in the very favourable condition of the war situation. There will he a retiring collection taken up for the benefit of the Overseas piano fund. A free distribution of propaganda literature will ho made at the Town Hall,
