The star feature for Thursday is “The Stainless Barrier,” the, story of a beautiful girl (Irene Hunt) who foreswore her honour to save a worthless brother who was used by a worthless financier for his own ends and so caused a tragedy that nearly wrecked the lives of any innocents. The opening chapters the new serial, far excelling “The Iron Claw,’’ will he also shown entitled “Tlie Neglected Wife,” the first episode being “The Woman Alone.’The story opens showing Horace Kennedy—twelve years of married life past—i* somewhat tired of his wife, Mary, who has “settled down.” To assist him in his work, he hires a pretty typiste, and one night when he is taking her home, the cablecar has a serious smash. It is all so natural —so vital and vivid—that it surpasses all other stories of marriage and its problems. The twelfth chapter of “The Lass of the Lumborlancls’’ will complete a lino programme.
