Sportsmen arc keenly disappointed that the long expected meeting between Desert Gold and Biplane is again postponed. After a gallop at Rand wick yesterday Biplane displayed symptoms of lameness. The Veterinary traced the the trouble to the round hone of the oft' fore leg and advised Mr Greenwood to forfeit all Randwiek and Victorian engagements and turn the horse out for a lengthy spell. The vet thinks the trouble has been developing for /some time, and probably accounts for the poor display at Rosehill and the erratic track gallops. Mr Greenwood has decided if Gloaming wins, an amount equivalent to what Biplane would have earned if successful in the Spring Stakes, he will present it to the patriotic funds .
LONDON TO MELBOURNE. Oct. 2. A meeting of prominent business and financial men subscribed sufficient funds to definitely commercialise an aerial service between Australia and London, bringing the latter within 150 hours of Melbourne.
