WANGANUI TRAMWAYS. WANGANUI, This Day. A serious break down occurred in the tramway system yesterday through a had accident to the main engine which as been heavily overloaded during the war period, through the Home authorities’ refusal to find shipping space. A new power plant was ordered over four years ago. The auxiliary engine is able to maintain a curtailed service during meal hours only. Great inconvenience and loss of business will result to say nothing of the serious shortage of tramway revenue, unless the situation is soon restored. The Council lias set up an independent common enquiry into the accident. The tram staff is strenuously working to ensure better service. The Council lias also wired to Hon. Myers asking him to again appeal to the Imperial Ministry of Munitions urging the shipping of the plant ordered.
