WAR IN THE AIR.
[per PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.] AIR REPORT. (Received This Day at 12.25. p.m.) LONDON, October 1 - General Haig reports much aerial activity on the 29th. We downed fifteen balloon and twenty-seven aeroplanes, aiul also drove down nine uncontrollable. Nineteen British ary missing. One previous missing has returned. The weather prevented night flying.
NAVAL' AIR OPERATIONS. (Received This Day at 1.5. p.m.) LONDON, October 1. The Admiralty reports in addition to co-operating in the Belgian offensive our aeroplanes between 23rd and 27th. kept enemy shipping under observation and bombed and machine-gunned destroyers ,raided Zeebruggo and Os-t-end and Bruges and an aerodrome in the vicinity of Ghent. We destroyed twelve enemy machines and drove down [fourteen uncontrollable. 'Pen British are missing. IN HELIGOLAND BIGHT. (Received This Day at 1.5. p.m.) LONDON, October 1. The Admiral reports : A squadron of large seaplanes conducted a long reconnaissance in Heligoland Bight.
