AMUSEMENTS.

“ PAUL JONES.”

TO-NIGHT. Everything points to one of the best performances of comic opera by amateurs in New Zealand, being given in tho Princess Theatre to-night by the local amateurs. “Paul Jones” is an ambitious effort, but judging by the final rehearsal last night, the Hokitika lady and gentlemen performers will come through the ordeal to-night with flying colors. All rests in their hands now, for no expense has been spared to give them the necessary support in professional dressing and mounting by Mr Tom Pollard. The orchestra under Mr Resteanx are all players of merit and no anxiety need be felt about tlieir part of the performance. Mrs Houston, the accompanist, has devoted a great deal of time to the rehearsals and can be depended upon as one practically knowing the opera by heart to be ready “for any emergency. All the society of ladies and gentlemen have worked hard with their producer. Air Tom Pollard, to attain a high standard for their production of “Paul Jones” and we are sure that they will succeed by a bumper house and a great performance. We wish Mr Pollard, the lady and gentlemen performers, and everyone connected with the prod notion that great success that all have worked so hard to attain.
