AUSTRALIAN BOLSHEVIKS ON LENIN.

SYDNEY, September 18. The “Sydney Worker,’’ once the comparatively sane and authoritative otgan of moderate Labour is now absolutely under the control of the Bolshevik elements in this State. It now carries no weight at all—one 100k s at it as one would examine something abnormal and quaint. It, of course lias refused to recognise the uspe'akable Lenin and Trotsky as anything less than the great apostles of freedom. On September 12th, three or four days before the final condemning exposures of these international adventurers as German agents, it published an article by Peter Simonoff. Simonoff is the gentleman who was formally appointed by Lenin as Bolshevik Consul to Australia, but, un- \ happily, the Federal Government would not have anything to do with him. Mr Simonoff is still doing his masters worlc however and some extracts from his extraordinary penegyric are worth quoting: “In this article,” says the “Worker ’ “Mr Simonoff gives us the truth regarding the working of Lenin and incidentally answers some of the inane c- mments poured out in the capitalistic press when news was cabled of the attempted assassination 0 f the great leader of the Russian people.”, This is what the unfortunate Si moooff had to say of Lenin now proved to be the. creature of the German Secret Service: “These people do not know that Lenin was fighting against violence during all his life. They do nor know that Lenin worked tremendously, unceasingly, tirelessly all his lifetime in bringing to the forefront conimonsense human reason and brotherhood, They do not know that Lenin would instead of brutal force and hatred, not; resort to violence even for the sake of right against wrong, even for the sake of liberation of the oppressed from _ tlie clutches of human vampires. ‘ .There is much more to the same ' effect. Tim eulogy continues we ■ have seen from the present Russian ■ revolution, Lenin’s plan worked well • and still works well. All the eye-wit-nesses agree unanimously that all the tremendous work which his scheme iur volved was carried out with a precision \ R imply astounding ,nnd now we see that all the trouble and mischief is the work - of the hirelings of the plutocracy and - the hotheaded terrorits.” And, finally, this of the man who I armed will German gold and German orders, went to Petrograd to destroy Russia —and succeeded: “I hope Lenin i- will live long enough! to see his ideal in T actual operation to see all the produei- ing classes enjoying the full fruit s of - their labour; to see no classes no nn(J tions, no political boundaries and d>visioiis . ■ • then he may die-co itont g that his life was not altogether useless for humanity.”
