“ PAUL JONES."

PRINCESS THEATRE, WEDNESDAY

“ Paul Jones,” a comic opera in 3 acts will be Hokitika’s amateur effort on next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The amateurs have been rehearsing for some time under the direct personal supervision of Mr Tom Pollarcl, and according to that gentleman’s opinion the production will be the best ever given by amateurs in New Zealand. “ Paul Jones ” stands alone as a comic opera. It is full of melody, teeming over with comedy, and has a well connected story. Mrs Staveley will be the “ Paul Jones,” anfi this lady’s dashing breezy style will suit her impersonation of the rollicking adventurer. Miss E. Perry has a part that gives this clever young lady every opportunity for good singing. Airs Ivon Wilson is the “ Chopinette,” Miss Wells “Rafino,” Mr H. M. Coulson “ Bicoquet,” Mr Ivon Wilson “ Trocadero,” and two Greymontli amateurs, Mr Len McGlashan and Master Reggie Nash are cast for the two noted smugglers “Bonillabase ” and “Petit Pierre.” No expense has been spared to mount and dress the opera. A full orchestra under the leadership of Air R. Cullen, with orchestra and chorus under the baton of Air Fred Resteaux will put the finishing touches in the production. Prices of admission are on the popular scale 3/, 2/, and 1/ with no extra charge for reserving at Airs Browne’s. The box plan will open to-morrow, Friday morning, and seats may be reserved for the three nights.
