Tli?* Pnv at 11.23. LONDON, September Zo. General Haig reports:—We made further progress on the evening of the 24th., and during the night in the neighbourhood of Solency and at Gri■•court. Tlae enemy Counter attacked several times, 'twice in great strengt 1, northward of Gricourt, but "as impulsed on both occasions. Two com panies of the Second Battalion of tne ffipyal Sussex, in one instance got at the enemy with the bayonet inflicting heavy casualties and capturing a number. . , The' enemy in the evening renttaCKOd at Gricourt and at first made some progress but we immediately counter attacked and completely restored the sit4Ve prisonered a thousand and took a large number of machine guns northwestward of St Quentin on Tuesday. , A successful minor operation on Monday night, slightly- advanced our hue. / south-eastward of Inchy. We repulsed raids eastward of Demicourt, and noitl - ward of Lens. An enemy raid westward of Saucti.v, captures a British post. The enemy reattacked the same posts and was repulsed. We made successful raids on Wulverghem sector.
