SHEEP EASIER
(By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding the above sales on Wed uesday. Fat Cattle—There was a small entry and the .quality "'as mostly indillercnt.. Prices were equal to last week. Rest steer beef brought (50s per. hundred. Prime steers sold up to £23 Jos good CIS 10s. to £2O; Cows and heifers £l2 to £ls and up to £lB, for extra heavy. Store Cattle. —There was a lnrge_yar.| ing, of all classes, owing to scarcity of feed and the marko- was decidedly easier, and the passings numerous.. A lino of 4-vear old horeford steers 1 good condition, made £l3 10s. ; 2-year old heifers good sorts £lO os. Practically all yearlings were passed. Fat Sheep—The yarding was about the same size as last week and the demand about the same, there being no quotable difference in the market — Rest wethers sold to 335., prime 435. to 4Gs. fid., lighter 375. (id., to 425.; Very few ewes were yarded best to 41s. (id.; prime 355. to .335. (id. ; lighter 28s. to 33s (3d ; inferior 23s to 3(5s (id : fat hoggets 30s to 36s 6d. a few excepionally good to 4os. Store sheep—A very large yarding, mostly hoggets, which nearly all showed signs of travel, being mainly in dealers hands. The market was decidedly easier. All dry sheep were 2s. easier and withdrawals were frequent and prospects arc not rosy. Rest ewe hoggets 37s 9<1., wether hoggets 245. to 28s. Od. best .wethers 355. (id. to 37s 10d. A good line of southern wether wethers passed in at 41s fid. Ewes and-lambs were hard to sell.
