\fr .Tamos Simpson, Canada’s Popular Labour Advocate, will deliver an address in the Town Hall Hokitika, on Friday next, Sept, 27th., his Worship the Mayor, (Mr. 0. A. Perry), presidinpr. Mr Simpson was induced to come to New Zealand by a Canadian now resident in Auckland and he has come to New Zealand to testify to the good effects of Prohibition in Canada. Mr. Simpson has occupied many important positions in Canada. He was born in Lindel-in-Furness, in Lancashire, England He was Municipal Editor of the Toronto “Daily Star,” and Managing Editor of “The Industrial Banner, Ontario’s loading Labor paper. Ho was a former Controller and Chairman of the Board of Education, Toronto, was the first vice-Presidont of the Trades and Labour Congress of Canada; the secretary of the Ontario section of the Canadian Labour Party ; member of the Toronto Social Service Committee; .Labour’s representative on Canada’s Royal Commission on Industrial Training and Technical Education 1910—11; Canadian delegate to the World’s Congress of Labour men, to consider peace terms at the dose of the war; member of the Committee of .100 that made Ontario dry; member of the Executive Council of the Dominion Temperance Alliance, Canada. , ..
