KOKATAHI 'SPUING SALE, At the aobve yards on Thursday last Messrs Jeffries and Co., held 'their annual Spring fixture, the yarding comprising 138 head. There was a fair attendance of buyers and competition for all big framed steers and heifers was good. There was however, a marked decline in all young sorts, especially calves. This is accounted for by the very severe winter and the scarcity of feed. The following prices wore recorded :
21 to 3 year old steers (good frames) £ll/17/6, 2Jyr. steers at £lO, £lO/16/-, and £lO/10/-, 2 year old steers at £O, and £B/17/6. 18 mos. steers at £6/5/-, £7, £7/15/-. Yearling steers £4/12/6. Several lines passed not reaching owners’ reserves. Springers ,young cows £ls/5/£l2/10/-, and £ll/15/-. Heifers £7/17/6 and £B/5/-. Calves, 10,m05., old calves £4/3/ v 'to £5. ,One. Shorthorn bull £B, one ditto £l2, (yearling). A line of empty heifers and cows passed at £7/10/- were afterwards sold at £B.
