PATRIOTIC COMPETITIONS.
Oi’KGJXG TG-MOBKOW. The Patriotic Competitions open at the Princess Theatre to-morrow. The morning session begins at 10 o’clock, with highland dancing in respect'* to which Mr MacDoitald will he the judge. The judge reached Greymoutli on Saturday night, and is staying there over 10-night for the* Copper Trail final; and will reach here to-morrow morning. To-morrow afternoon the elocutionary competition begins at 2.15., Mr .1. F. Wilson being the judge, and he, too arrives in the morning. At night at 7.45 the big programme will he given including the finals in respect to a number of events. The following is the full programme for the day :—• Forenoon commencing 10 o’clock, Dag, cing Section, Mr. Hugh MacDonald, (Fairlie) Judge: Highland Fling, 12 years and under, highland Fling, over 12 years; Sword Dance, 12 years and under; Sword Dance, over 12 years; Sailors Hornpipe (two sections). Afternoon , commencing at 2.15. o’clock: Elocution Section; Air <T. F. Wilson (Greymoutli) judge:— Recitation: “Playing Ninety-Nine,” girls under 9years of age; recitation: “Chi d’s Evensong.” girls under 12 years; recitation : “In School Days,” girls under 10 years; recitation: National subject, under 10 years. Evening, commencing at 7.45 o’clock; vocal music section. Mr. O. Staffan, (Groymouth,) Judge.
Final: “Playing Ninety-nine;” final Highland Fling, 12 -years and under; soprano solo; contralto solo; Sailor’s Hornpipe, (final) over 12 years; Sailor’s Hornpipe, (final), 12 years and under; final, “Child’s Evensong” ; final, sword dance, over 12 years; final.
