Hildreth is to be the Gov eminent nominee for the Wellington Contra I seat, '[’he choice was made, it is understood, mainly by the Liberal Committee of' the electorate, and the Reform people have promised that they will do their best to secure his return. Air Hildreth is the kind of man that the. Reform people can support without any great difficulty in' these times. It is certain, however, that the prohibitionists, probably in alliance with the Protestant Association, will bring out a candidate. That candidate may be Mr. M. ,T. Ala'ek. The Labour nominees to go to the preliminary ballot of the Labour organi sation are Alessrs John Read, Peter Fraser, and At. J. Reardon. The only surprise on the list was the name of Air. Reardon. He had previously refus ed to let his name go to the ballot, but today he decided to let his name stand. He is a moderate among Labour men—always an oponent of the Red Fed.— “Alaoriland Worker” coterie —and his chances of getting the nomination are slender. Air. Fraser is almost sure to
