CORRESPONDENCE.
CO-OPERATION. (To the Editor). Sir, —Kindly give me space to notify tho working class people of the district, that I propose putting a matter before them which is of great interest and benefit to them, especially in these times of high prices, which we are paying for our commodities. A meeting is called" for Kanieri by the Hokitika Branch of the New Zealand Labour Party, and at that meeting I will put it before them to join up with other parts of the district and commence a co-operative store in Hokitika to supply the district, and by this means economise as much as possible. Most of us are aware of the advantages of co-opera turn and I think Hokitika a good place for a store run on those lines; as it is a fairly settled community. I think it is our duty to do all we can to economise for National, as well as individual boneht and as the Efficiency Board recommended that it should be done, it should meet with general and good support. I would like to obtain the opin ion of the people in Kanieri and Riinu, before going further, then get a meeting, at other places and get to know what amount of support it would get. Then we should know whether to venture or not. 1 should he pleased with a commentary on this subject from you iu your paper, explaining the methods and advantages etc., to encourage people to take an interest in the matter. 1 hope to see the people roll up in good numbers so that it will he a representative meeting and say what they think. Thanking you in anticipation. ! am etc., K. NEWMAN, Kanieri,. Sept. 9th. 191 S. | The matter is one entirely for those who care to participate in the proposed project. Co-operation has many advantages, mid its success in business is governed entirely by the ability ol the maiiugoinent.—E. “0
