AJUHXTiA FAT STOCK SALE
At the above Yards yesterday, Messrs W. Jeffries and Co. submitted .35 head of fat eattl c and 30 fat hoggets for sale. Competition was keen throughout the Sale, and beef shewed no decline as compared with tlio last fixture at the above Yards. The quality was good and the demand unsatisfied. The following sales were effected: For Mr F. Williams, .3 bullocks at £2O 7s Gd, 4 at £2l 15s, 3 at £2O 7s 6d, 2 at £2l os, 2 at £2l. 3 at £2O 7s Gd. 2 at. £2l 2s Gd, 2 at £2O 2s Gd, 4 at £l7 17s Gd, 3 heifers at £ls ss, 3 at £l4 12s Gd; on account Mr M. Kelly, 2 steers at £9 12s Gd, 1 heifer at £5 15s; on account Air J. I)avidson(privately; 9 heifers at £1.3 10s; on account Mr H. Johnstone, 30 hoggets at 40s.
Afessrs AI. -Houston and Co. report as follows;—There was only a moderate yarding at the above Yards yesterday, the usual attendance of buyers being present; competition was very keen throughout, prices being on a par with those of tlie previous sale. Included in our entry from Air H. Diedriehs was a particularly good Shorthorn steer, bidding for which commenced at £3l and rapidly rose by one pound bids to £36, when, after the most spirited bidding. it was finally knocked down to Mr Wm Zeigler for the record price of £lO. This price easily constitutes a record for the West Coast. A very prime Hereford bullock from the same vendor was secured by Air F. Andrews after keen bidding, for the sum of £29. Both these bullocks were very prime, and were fattened on Mr Diedriehs’ station at Koiterangi.
The heifer kindly donated by Air Diedriehs for tlie Westland Copper Trail Fund was submitted by us, and was bought bv AH F. Andrews at £IG 12s 6d.
We sold on account of Messrs Lyes Bros., .3 bullocks at- £2l 15s, 2 at £lB 10s, 2 at £l3 12s Gd; on account Air 11. Diedriehs, 1 bullock at £4O, 1 at £29, 2 at £23 17s Gd, 2 at £22 17s Gd, 3 at £2l 2s Gd, ,3 at £2O ss, 1 at £2O, 1 at £l9 7s Gd, 4 at £l9 ss, 1 lieifer at £l6 12s Gd. 1 at £9 7s Gd; on account of AH R. Bradley, 1 springer at £B. 1 aged cow at £6.
