DETAILS OF THE SUCCESS. ("Received This Dav at 10.15. LONDON, Sep. 3. We advanced to-day four miles on a twenty mile front. The enemy is. hurriedly retiring behind tlie Hinden- ! burg switch line. Street fighting is in ! progress at Moislans and Allaines. ! north-east- of Peronne. Our line of advance now runs through Vormezellc, Neuve Eglise, Steenwerek, and Lacoutre. Between the rivers Scarpe and Somme the enemy are strongly re-acting in the centre. It is expected lie will certainly react against the switch. I The weather is stormy and gusty. The enemy has another switch line from Douai to Cambrai, but it is not very good, and is certainly less formidable than the Queant switch. Tho region beyond the second line is open ; country, somewhat marshy until tho | Cambrai plain is reached, j The fighting continues near Lens, jWe have captured the suburbs or j Puitsforse.
