PROFITABLE VENTURE

Speaking* as a teetotaller at Melbourne, the Minister for Home and Territories (Mr Glynn) said recently that he considered the results achieved at the Government hotel in the Northern Territory were satisfactory. The condition of the hotels bad been considerably improved and precautions were taken to ‘insure sobriety. The policy was to supply good liquor to prevent drunkenness and suppress sly grog-selling. The hotels had cost about £20,059, aud with the additions and improvements since made represented a capital outlay of £29,277. The net profits to April 30 last were £26,800, and with the stock the total assets were £44,313.
