SiC BRITISH ATTACK, ON 25 MILE FRONT. THIRD ARMY SUCCESS. FOURTH ARMY ALSO SUCCESSFUL. (Received This Day at 9.2-5 a.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 23. Tho British. between Lilions and Cojeul river ftro fighting a heavy battlo on a twenty-five mile front. The Germans are reported to he flinging in masses of men against the British, in ail endeavour to stave off a disaster. The British Third Army has gained a. mile on a front of seven miles. The British Fourth Army has gained two miles on a front of seven miles and have taken two thousand prisoners already.
FURTHER SUCCESS. LONDON, Aug. 23. A United Press correspondent reports the British to-day prisonered a thousand and reached Boiry-hecquerelle Hamilin court, and Gomecourt, while Bray is practically surrounded. FRENCH EAST OF NOYON. (Received This Day at 9.50. a.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 23. French troops are across the Oise, j eight miles east of Noyon. The British are nearing Bapaume.
