N., Aug 21 Replying to the resolution of the Palmerston Chamber of Commerce, regarding the National Efficiency Hoard the National Tribunal on the Defence Commission’s report, Sir James Allen replied:—“l am very much obliged to your Chamber’s suggestion, Imt enquiry 7 is being made by' the Defence Staff into each suggestion made by the Royal Commission. It is not in my .opinion necessary to invite the Efficiency Hoard to join in deliberation.”

The Chelterhain Dairy Company’s annual meeting passed a resolution that the meeting views with alarm tlie accumulation of land under single ownership in this and surrounding districts, and respectfully urges tile National Government the necessity of taking steps to prevent the aggregation of land, which wo consider inimical to the best interests of the dairying industry, and small farmers -of New Zealand.

The Auditor General bad explained the “tag” was simply dictated by legal rulings in regard to the Board’s finance. Forsyth, Chairman, said, in effect the Auditor was pointing out the weakness of the Government in not supplying the nccessarrv money for the carrying on of the Educational system in New Zealand. Members expressed the opinion that Legislative Reform was needed. The grants were not nearly enough. ■Some country schools were not only out of date, lmt insanitary. The Board decided to interview the Minister on the matter.
