The “Central News” Hague correspondent states the German working class discontent is seriously increasing. An agitator named Dreoso, a. friend of the Bolshevik Joffe has formed a Workers and goldiers Association.
DTSAPPOINTED GERMANS. (Received This Day. nt 12.10. a.m.) ROME, August 20. The “Journal d’ltalia’’ says defeatism is progressing alarmingly in Germany. The popularity of the military idols is disappearing. The change to the truculent spirit since last March, is almost incredible.
DR. SOLE’S APPEAL. A CHANGE OF TUNE, (Received this day at 1.5 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, August 21. A Berlin message states that Dr. Self declared the jingoes, though numerous did not possess real influence in responsible quarters. Germany would undertake the guardianship of nations bordering Russia, This did not imply annexation. Germany was prepared to restore fully Belgium’s independence. Solf appealed to the Moderate Parties in nil countries to work for the realisation of an honourable peace
