POLLARD’S PICTURES. MADGE EVANS, TO-NIGHT

To-night, at Hie Princess Theatre, Pollard will present the wonderful child-star artist, Madge Evans, and the well-known American actor, Lew Fields, in Hie powerful melodrama, “ The Corner Grocer.” Lew Fields plays the old money-making but kind Merchant to tlie life, while Madge Evans is adorable as the little orphan who is adopted by the old man, and eventually brings him happiness The story is adapted from the play which ran for no less than three years in New York, and is a melodrama of. the really human type. Lilian Cook, the pretty star who plays the juvenile in “ Rasputin,” plays the part of Hie little girl grown up, and she is worth watching as an actress with a future. Clever selection of stars is a feature of “ The Corner Grocer.” In the first part of the play, the little orphan girl is played by Madge Evans, and in the second part as grown up, she is portrayed by Lilian Cook. The two are most extraordinarily alike and suit splendidly as the one person at different ages. The 4th chapter of “A. Lass in the Lumbcrlands” will be screened to-night. A fast and furious 2,000 ft Keystone “ Teddy at the Throttle” is included in the display.

AlcLeaii will present the picturisntion of Basil King’s great novel “Does a mail ever forgive” in the stirring drama “The Lilted Veil” in which Ethel Barrymore takes the leading role. It* is a powerful valid impressive drama based on the text “Let him that is without sin among you east the first stone.” There will be a line supporting programing 'of comedy and the second chapter of tile great serial story commenced last week “The Great Secret” which is one of the very best of serials yet screened. The orchestra will supply a tine musical programme.
